In the year 1999 after the Super cyclone, few committed youth volunteers decided to streamline their efforts devoted to the under-privileged traditional art and craft community of Dhenkanal to provide two square meals through this traditional work. The volunteers decided to formalize it as a nonprofit Traditional craft-based livelihood Development organization and thus WORLD ACT INDIA is created and established n 2000 in the remote village of Dhenkanal district. It is a not-for-profit organization, has been working with an agenda of empowering lives, facilitating an institutional process in the livelihood spectrum of poor traditional artisans for sustainable socio-economic development. The organization started its work with adequate facilitation, local artisan youth as the best managers of the conserving traditional craft and possesses the time-tested knowledge for its sustainable use for their economic wellbeing.

Since its inception, WORLD ACT INDIA is a Traditional craft-based nonprofit livelihood Development organization working with the downtrodden vulnerable rural artisan community at large. The organization’s core strength lies in its significant community-led entrepreneur-based livelihoods generation activities at the grassroots, its participation in market-oriented craft production with consumer choice without affecting traditional skill and practice. Its ground experience, moreover the passionate management board & competent team and with the highest stake to remain transparent and accountable to the organization and its the artisans in the state of Odisha. It works to alleviate poverty through an innovative touch of traditional craft thereby bringing them they would continue playing like the best option for their sustained livelihood and their socio-economic development particularly Scheduled Tribe artisans especially women artisan of the area.
